Cornford Lane lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the High Weald close to Tunbridge Wells.
Dating back at least 700 years, it is a very old and narrow country lane, approximately 1.5 miles long, with 500 year-old hedgerows and outstanding views of the High Weald AONB across hills and valleys of the farmland to the south.
The ancient hedgerows, fields and coppices provide habitat for a variety of flora and fauna (click here to see 1995 survey or go to Hedges, Flora & Fauna).
It has no strategic traffic capability or purpose; it is a single track road in places and does not provide any different or better route than the already existing and purpose-built main road of the A264 (Pembury Road).
